U.S. Army Solider Show at Rumpel Fitness Center June 25 [ back to top ]

The U.S. Army Soldier Show will perform at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at Fort McCoy’s Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The carnival-themed event is free and open to the public.

Doors will open one hour before the performance begins. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Register by June 30 for BOSS trip to Military All-Stars game  [ back to top ]

The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program at Fort McCoy is hosting a night out to watch the U.S. Military All-Stars versus the La Crosse Area All-Stars Baseball Game Saturday, July 30 at the La Crosse Loggers stadium.

The cost is approximately $30 per person and includes transportation, game entrance, private cabin seats and all you can eat and drink.

Minimum attendance of 20 people and advanced purchase by June 30 is required.

A van will depart Fort McCoy at 4:30 p.m. from BOSS Headquarters, building 1647, and return at approximately 11 p.m.

The event is open to all single and geographically separated Soldiers and Department of Defense civilians.

Skeet registration under way, competition begins July 7  [ back to top ]
A skeet league at the Fort McCoy Sportsman’s Range will be held Thursdays from July 7-Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Each participant will shoot two rounds — 50 clays — of skeet. Prizes will be awarded weekly, and overall first- and second-place prizes will be awarded at the end of the league. There is a $7 weekly fee.

Family Fun Day July 9 at Pine View Campground  [ back to top ]
Family Fun Day at Fort McCoy’s Pine View Campground is Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Activities include inflatables, a petting farm, ladder golf and bean bag toss games, a Fort McCoy Police/Fire smokehouse and McGruff, face painting and a family relay.

The event is free and open to the public. Camping facilities also are available for a fee.

An Army Family Team Building Workplace Management Skills workshop is being offered Tuesday, July 12 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Army Community Service Center, building 2111.

The workshop will cover meeting management, communication skills, managing group conflict, and coaching and mentoring.

Dueling Pianos will perform at McCoy’s, building 1571 Friday, July 29 at 8:30 p.m.

The all-request, sing- and clap-along, rock ‘n’ roll, comedy show will feature high-energy piano-playing entertainers who make the audience part of the show.

The show is free and open to the entire Fort McCoy community.

Volunteers are needed to support the 2011 Army Concert Tour Friday, Aug. 5.

Volunteers are needed for will call, clean up, parking, ticket sales, ticket collection, wristbanding, and serving beverages.

Volunteers supporting the concert will receive a T-shirt and an invitation to the Volunteer Recognition Night at McCoy’s, building 1571.

AFAP issues, volunteer nominations due by Aug. 12  [ back to top ]

Issue and volunteer nomination forms for the Fort McCoy fiscal year 2012 Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) Conference will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 12.

The Fort McCoy AFAP Conference will be held Oct. 19-20.

The AFAP program is a grass-roots process that begins at installation level and seeks input regarding quality-of-life concerns that affect the well-being of Soldiers, civilians, Family members and retirees.

Patriot Warrior Riders hold monthly meeting, ride  [ back to top ]
The Fort McCoy Motorcycle Mentorship Program, Patriot Warrior Riders, meets the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at McCoy’s, building 1571. The group will ride to the Ground Round in Tomah, where dinner and a meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Mentorship activities and initiatives will be discussed.

Everyone in the Fort McCoy community interested in safe motorcycling is encouraged to attend. There is no membership fee to participate.

Women’s Equality Day Aug. 25; Diversity Award nominations open  [ back to top ]
A Women’s Equality Day Luncheon will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 at McCoy’s, building 1571.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch on your own, followed by the presentation from noon-1 p.m.

The event honors the women who worked for women’s suffrage and celebrates the 91st anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. The guest speaker is Gloria Dippen.

The Fort McCoy Excellence in Diversity Award will be presented at the end of the program.

Nominations for the Excellence in Diversity Award must be submitted by Aug. 12.

Commissary scholarship winners announced  [ back to top ]
Seven students in the Fort McCoy Commissary community have been announced as winners in the Scholarships for Military Children Program.

The following students each received a $1,500 scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year: Vanessa L. Vosen, Emily N. Schroeder, Elizabeth R. Ness, Courtney E. Comar, Lauren L. Mobley, Kyle A. Werstein, and Jason G. Schultz.
