Water main replacement
Work is being completed on South 11th Avenue to replace water mains from F Street to S Street. Alliance Steel from Superior, Wis., is the prime contractor. Asphalt paving of the road will follow when the water main work is completed. Mathy Construction of Onalaska, Wis., is the prime contractor for the paving.

Army Birthday events set for June 14 at Fort McCoy  [ back to top ]
Fort McCoy’s Army Birthday celebration is Tuesday, June 14.

The day’s events start with a Commander’s 5-K Run at 7 a.m. at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

A drive-thru breakfast will be available at McCoy’s, building 1571 from 7-9 a.m. Offerings include free donuts, breakfast bars, coffee, juice and T-shirts, while supplies last.

A free lunch will be served at Constitution Park from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., while supplies last, with the official cake-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.

Additional specials include free automatic car washes at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Car Wash from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and free bowling at McCoy’s from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The events and specials are open to the entire Fort McCoy community.


Community Activity Center to host volleyball, horseshoes tourneys  [ back to top ]
The Community Activity Center, building 2000, will hold Sand Volleyball and Horseshoe tournaments in June.

The single-elimination Sand Volleyball tournament is Wednesday, June 15 at 6 p.m. Each team will consist of six players. The members of the winning team each will receive a $20 Exchange gift card.

The Horseshoe tournament is Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

Patriot Warrior Riders to hold monthly meeting, ride  [ back to top ]

The Fort McCoy Motorcycle Mentorship Program, Patriot Warrior Riders, meets the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at McCoy’s, building 1571. The group will ride to the Ground Round in Tomah, where dinner and a meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Mentorship activities and initiatives will be discussed.

Everyone in the Fort McCoy community interested in safe motorcycling is encouraged to attend. There is no membership fee to participate.

Options available for submitting DA Form 17  [ back to top ]

The Publications Warehouse has a new process to submit a Department of the Army Form 17, Requisition for Publications and Blank Forms. Three options to submit the form are offered.

The form can be addressed to DHR/Pubs IMNE-MCY-HRAP and sent through distribution; it can be delivered directly to Official Mail and Distribution, building 1654; or can be e-mailed to usarmy.mccoy.imcom-northeast.mail.dhr-pubs@mail.mil with the subject “Pubs Order.”


Bowling special offered June through August  [ back to top ]
Thunder Bowl Bowling Center has $1 bowling games Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 -5 p.m. from June through August. Shoe rental is not included.

Thunder Bowl is located inside McCoy’s, building 1571.

Summer Sizzler 5-K run set for June 21 at fitness center  [ back to top ]
The Summer Sizzler 5-K run is Tuesday, June 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The registration fee is $10. The first 25 people to register will receive a free T-shirt.

AFTB Facilitator Training course set for June 22  [ back to top ]

An Army Family Team Building Facilitator Training course will be held Wednesday, June 22 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Army Community Service (ACS) Center, building 2111.

Topics include facilitation and the facilitator, facilitating the group, the ABCs of facilitation, facilitation from start to finish and practical application.

Register by Friday, June 17 by calling 608-388-3505. Attendees are encouraged to attend the ACS Instructor Trainer Course, June 14 or 16, as a prerequisite.


Paintball tournament June 26 at Tactics Paintball  [ back to top ]
A World Paintball Day Tournament will be held Sunday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at the Tactics Paintball & Laser Tag field.

The double-elimination tournament will have five-person teams. The registration fee is $30 per team. All participants must use equipment from and purchase paintballs from Tactics Paintball & Laser Tag. The tournament is open to the public, and prizes will be awarded.

Hunter Education for youth set for July 11-15 at McCoy  [ back to top ]

A Hunter Education course for youth 12-18 years old will be held July 11-15 from 3:30 – 6 p.m. at Fort McCoy.

The five-day, 10-lesson course instills knowledge and skills to be a responsible and safe hunter.

Topics include how hunting accidents are caused, how they can be prevented, hunter responsibility and safety. Training will include lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, practical exercises, and individual study and activity assignments.

The first class will be held at building 1681 with the remaining classes held at the Fort McCoy Sportsman’s Range. The fee is $10 dollars per child.

Family Focus Camping set for July 8-10  [ back to top ]

 The Fort McCoy Family Focus camping weekend is July 8-10 at Pine View Campground.

The weekend will be filled with fun activities for the entire Family, with opportunities to earn Family Focus Franks. Activities include mini-golf, a sand castle building contest, scavenger hunt, potluck picnic and more.

Families must be registered in the Family Focus program to participate.

BOSS planning July 30 trip, register by June 15   [ back to top ]
The Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program at Fort McCoy is hosting a night out to watch the U.S. Military All-Stars versus the La Crosse Area All-Stars Baseball Game Saturday, July 30 at the La Crosse Loggers stadium.

The cost is $30 per person and includes transportation, game entrance, private cabin seats and all you can eat and drink. Minimum attendance of 20 people and advanced purchase by June 15 is required.

A van will depart Fort McCoy at 4:30 p.m. from BOSS Headquarters, building 1647, and return at approximately 11 p.m.
The event is open to all single and geographically separated Soldiers and Department of Defense civilians.

Volunteers are needed to support the 2011 Army Concert Tour Friday, Aug. 5.

Volunteers are needed for will call, clean up, parking, ticket sales, ticket collection, wristbanding, and serving beverages.
