Decade of Duty publication available
|The publication “A Decade of Duty Fort McCoy’s Service
to the Nation 2001-2011” now is available.
Linda Fournier, Fort McCoy Public Affairs officer, said the installation
Public Affairs Office (PAO) assembled information and photos for the
publication to tell the story of Fort McCoy’s mobilization efforts
during the Global War on Terror.
“The book is for Soldiers who supported the mission and for the public,”
Fournier said. “It’s a document everyone can look at and see what Fort
McCoy accomplished during those 10 years.”
Fournier said the document uses more than 80 color photos and text to
tell the story and also chronicles some of the changes that occurred at
Fort McCoy from 2001-2011.
Brad Stewart, the Fort McCoy Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization
and Security, said the publication will serve as an excellent resource
to inform transient training units and personnel about Fort McCoy’s
extensive training capabilities and help showcase how the installation
integrated those capabilities into the mobilization mission. In fact,
Stewart already has used it in his presentations to the Operational,
Functional, Training and Sustainment Command’s command representatives
during the 84th Training Command’s Concept Development Workshops for
exercises in 2013 and 2014.
“A Decade of Duty” not only advertises the installation’s capabilities,
it captures the essence of Fort McCoy as a Total Force Training Center
and how the garrison staff, through customer feedback and requirements,
Army- mandated training facilities, and strategic planning, focused on
preparing troops for combat, and created an unparalleled training
environment, he said.
This is an excellent document for us to use when we talk to our
customers about what we did and what we have to offer,” Stewart added.
“It has a historical retrospective and can be used to help us recruit
As units return from theater, this publication is another tool in the
Fort McCoy toolbox to demonstrate that the installation is postured to
provide a decisive-action training environment to allow units to meet
their training objectives against a complex and hybrid opposing force.
