Route-clearance patrols, such as this one on North Post with a Husky leading, followed by a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected armored vehicle, a Buffalo and Humvee guntrucks, are an example of the training done by mobilized engineer units at Fort McCoy. This convoy was operated by the 950th Engineer Company, a Wisconsin Army National Guard unit from Superior, Wis., training to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Soldiers from the 228th Engineer Company lift a fellow Soldier onto a litter and into a truck after he received simulated injuries during a mission rehearsal exercise on a Fort McCoy training lane. The Soldiers were in a convoy on a route-clearance patrol when they were struck by a simulated improvised explosive device. The 228th, a Pennsylvania Army National Guard unit, is training to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Pvt. Nathan Burton keeps his M-249 squad automatic weapon trained on the Fort McCoy countryside during a route-clearance mission. Burton, from Webster, Wis. is with the 950th Engineer Company, a Wisconsin Army National Guard unit from Superior, Wis. The 950th is training to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
