Team members, who were chosen after tryouts March 25 and April 8, and their qualifying times are:
Staff Sgt. Richard Mancl, 88th Regional Support Command (RSC) (one hour, six minutes, 52 seconds, 1:06:52); Sgt. 1st Class Dean Peloquin, 86th Training Division (1:10:11); Maj. Thomas Akerlund, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison (HHC, USAG) (1:12:50), who will serve as team captain; Staff Sgt. David Zeichert, 86th Training Division (1:14:21); and Master Sgt. Misty Brown, HHC, USAG (1:15:47).

The team will compete in the Army Reserve mixed-team category.

Back-up male and female team members are: Master Sgt. Louis Steffes, Regional Training Center-Central (1:15:29); and Staff Sgt. Kate Moreland, 88th RSC (1:21:34). Steffes and Moreland would fill in for team members if they were injured and could not compete. Zeichert and Steffes were members of the 2010 team, which finished third in the Army Reserve mixed-team race. Brown also has been a past member of several Fort McCoy Army Ten-Miler teams.

Akerlund said the team hopes to train several times a week — together and separately — to prepare for the Armywide event.
Sponsors for the event include USAA, Case Construction, Logistics Health Inc., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, EconoLodge, and Precision Stitch & Ink. No federal endorsement is implied.
