Old friends reunite

Morris Kihara, standing, and Casper Linnehan look at a photo display in Fort McCoy’s Commemorative Area History Center. One photo in the display is of the 100th Battalion at Camp McCoy, the unit Kihara served with in World War II and trained with at Camp McCoy. Kihara, 91, of Hawaii and the state of Washington, and Linnehan, 90, an area resident, had a reunion at Fort McCoy. Both served in the U.S. Army, including combat in Italy. They met on a ship returning to the United States and have had several reunions since.

Youth in the Fort McCoy community hunt for Easter eggs at the Rumpel Fitness Center April 16. The event was moved inside because of the weather. The Easter Eggstravaganza also featured face painting, photos with the Easter Bunny and Easter crafts for the youth.
