Container-loading facility approved at
|A new container-loading site will be constructed at

chief, said the $5 million project includes a 30,000-square-foot
facility and an adjoining storage yard.
“It’s a nice facility. When it’s done it will support our
container-loading needs well into the future,” Schmidt said. “The modern
conveniences in the facility will make it suitable to support any needs
that units would have, such as a setup to support laptops to inventory
equipment, stuff and unstuff containers, and pack equipment for shipment
to home station.”
“We will be well-positioned to support exercises, deployment needs,
etc., for any container-loading mission units would want to conduct
here,” Schmidt said. The facility will support the installation’s
strategic objectives to modernize its infrastructure and help maintain
and expand its military training customer base, she said.
The facility, to be built in the 2100 block on South 8th Avenue, will
include office space, storage space, a tool-crib area, lumber racks,
locker rooms and parking areas.
