Central Issue Facility closed for inventory  [ back to top ]

The Central Issue Facility (CIF), building 2142 at Fort McCoy, will be closed March 30-April 3.

The purpose is to conduct a 100 percent semiannual inventory as mandated by Army Regulations.

All emergency requests will be approved by Fort McCoy CIF Property Book Officer Thomas Lovgren by calling 608-388-7612 or cell 608-630-5595.

McCoy AER campaign to run through April 1   [ back to top ]

The Fort McCoy Army Emergency Relief (AER) campaign will run through Wednesday, April 1 at Fort McCoy.

Soldiers can contribute to the program. Each organization on the installation that has Soldiers has a Unit Project Officer to accept donations.

Active-duty Soldiers wishing to contribute can do so by cash, check or allotment. Soldiers on mobilization orders can contribute by cash or check. Credit card donations also are accepted at the AER Web site.

Financial assistance through the AER program can come in the form of an interest-free loan or a grant, or a combination of the two.

Army Ten-Miler tryouts set for April 3 at Fort McCoy  [ back to top ]

Tryouts for the 2009 Fort McCoy Army Ten-Miler team will be held at 8 a.m. Friday, April 3 near the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

Everyone in the Fort McCoy community is welcome to participate in the event, space permitting.

Only Army Reserve Soldiers can compete for a spot on the team. Eligible team members must be in an Army Reserve status and their duty station must be Fort McCoy. The Fort McCoy team will include at least one member from both the female and male participants and compete in the Army Reserve Mixed Team. Team members will be selected to assemble the most competitive team possible. Transportation, lodging and per diem will be provided for team members.

Team members must be able to train at least two-three times per week until the race, be able to attend the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., Oct. 4, and must have commanderís approval on the application form.

Army Reserve personnel interested in competing in the tryouts must obtain an application form, which is available at the Web site http://www.mccoymwr.com/Flyers/Army%20Ten%20Miler%20App.xfdl or at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122, complete it and return it to the Fitness Center by April 1. Job Search Letters workshop April 9    [ back to top ]

A Job Search Letters workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, April 9 at the Army Community Service (ACS) center, 2111 South 8th Ave.

The ACS Spouse Employment Program will sponsor the workshop. The workshop will cover strategies about how to write cover letters that help job seekers find the jobs they want.

Seating is limited. Priority will be given to military spouses.

Reservations are requested by Monday, April 6.

Easter Bunny to visit youth April 11 at Constitution Park  [ back to top ]

The Easter Bunny will visit the Fort McCoy community as part of an Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at Constitution Park at Fort McCoy. The inclement weather location will be the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

All authorized military youth in the Fort McCoy community are welcome to attend the event, which is co-sponsored by the Fort McCoy Commissary and Main Post Exchange.

The youth will be divided into four age groups: crawlers ages 0-2; walkers ages 3-4; runners ages 5-8 and sprinters ages 9-12.

Resumix workshop planned for April 15    [ back to top ]

A Resumix Resume Builder workshop will be held from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 at the Army Community Service (ACS) center, 2111 South 8th Ave.

The workshop will be sponsored by the ACS Spouse Employment Program. Participants will learn how to set up their account and navigate the Resumix Civilian Personnel Online system.

Pilot resume/referral system coming to McCoy   [ back to top ]

Managers and employees in the Fort McCoy Garrison soon will begin participation in the Department of Defense pilot of a new resume/referral system.

The Department of Defense Enterprise Staffing System, known as AVUE, is slated to replace Resumix at Fort McCoy, effective Monday, April 20, and Armywide.

Training sessions for managers and supervisors will take place April 12-16.

TSP workshop set for April 29 at ACS  [ back to top ]

A Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 29. The workshop will be sponsored by the Fort McCoy Army Community Service (ACS) Financial Readiness program, 2111 South 8th Ave.

Topics covered will include General Savings Concepts, Tax Differed versus Taxable Accounts, Traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs, TSP Investment Options, TSP Loans and TSP Withdrawal Annuity Options.

Course set for 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families  [ back to top ]

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families for Army Families workshop will be held Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at Fort McCoy Army Community Service (ACS), 2111 South 8th Ave.

Classes will run from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days. The workshop is designed to provide tools to help families successfully communicate and problem-solve together. Attendees will experience interactive exercises, case studies and video segments and will learn from the experience of others.

U.S. Army Soldier Show to Perform at McCoy May 30  [ back to top ]

The U.S. Army Soldier Show will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30 at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122, at Fort McCoy.

Doors will open one hour before the performance begins.

The event is open to the public, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Operation Military Kids hosting summer camps [ back to top ]

Operation Military Kids will host a camp this summer for military youth in third to ninth grades.

Youth with a family member who is deployed between October 2007 and October 2009 will have priority.

The camp for youth in third to fifth grade will be Aug. 23-25. Youth in grades sixth to ninth can attend camp from Aug. 26-29.

Registration fees will be $25, and camp costs will be covered by Operation Military Kids. Adult chaperones, 21-years-old and older, are needed and will be paid a $250 stipend.

Youth in grades 10 and above can apply to be a camp counselor.
