Army emergency relief campaign
under way at Fort McCoy

Fort McCoy’s Army Emergency Relief (AER) campaign is under way and will continues through Friday, April 15. The goal of the campaign is to increase awareness of AER, publicize procedures to receive AER assistance, and to replenish funds.

AER is a non-profit organization by Soldiers for Soldiers and receives no federal funding — depending entirely on donations. AER also provides education assistance to spouses and children of Soldiers.

In fiscal year (FY) 2010, a total of $169,411.09 in emergency financial assistance was provided through Fort McCoy to 116 Soldiers and Family members. Soldiers at the installation donated a total of $9,320 during the 2010 campaign.

Worldwide, AER provided $77 million in assistance to more than 66,000 Soldiers in 2010. Since its founding almost 70 years ago in 1942, AER has provided more than $1.3 billion dollars in assistance to Soldiers and Families.

Active-duty Soldiers can contribute to the campaign via cash, check, or allotment. Soldiers on mobilization orders may contribute by cash or check.

Each organization with Soldiers on the installation has a Soldier who has been designated as the Unit Project Officer and who is accepting donations during the campaign.
