TRICARE Dental Program contract
experiencing significant changes
|TRICARE recipients in the Fort McCoy community are
reminded the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) will change significantly in
the upcoming months.
Effective May 1, the contract changes from United Concordia (UCCI) to
MetLife. MetLife has established several outlets for servicemembers and
their Families to obtain information regarding this transfer including
the MetLife TRICARE Dental Program website (www.metlife.com/tricare),
the MetLife Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/MetLifeTDP),
and updates via the TRICARE website (www.tricare.mil/tdpcontract).
The Active Duty Dental Program used by active-duty servicemembers
remains unchanged and will be administered by UCCI. The TRICARE Retiree
Dental Program also remains unchanged and is administered by Delta
On approximately March 21, enrollees affected by the changeover will
receive a letter from MetLife explaining this along with instructions on
how to transfer their electronic fund transfer (EFT) and credit card for
Information also can be obtained by contacting the MetLife call centers,
which will open March 21. For those with a Continental United States
enrollment, call 1-855-MET-TDP1 (1-855-638-8371). For those enrolled
overseas, call 1-855-MET-TDP2 (1-855-683-8372); or TDD/TTY (Service for

A few of the highlighted changes coming to the TDP with this transition
include a decrease in the monthly premium, said Megan Robokoff-Kumpf,
the Beneficiary Counseling and Assistance coordinator for the Health
Benefits Office at Fort McCoy.
Currently the monthly premiums range from $12.69 to $111.01 a month.
Rates are based on sponsor status and the number of dependents enrolled.
The new rates will range from $10.30 to $102.96.
In addition to the overall rate decrease, survivors no longer will have
a premium for a period. Robokoff-Kumpf said this means that, beginning
May 1, active-duty Families with more than one dependent will pay $30.89
and a Reserve/Guard member with multiple Family members will pay $87.52.
These premiums are down from $31.72 and $91.98, respectively.
Additional changes will include a yearly maximum benefit increase to
$1,300 per person, an added accident benefit of $1,300 per person per
year, and an increase in the orthodontic benefit to $1,750 per person in
For those currently enrolled in the TDP, enrollments automatically will
be transferred to MetLife when it takes over the TDP contract May 1.
However, the EFTs previously used for monthly payments will not
automatically transfer. Enrollees are urged to re-authorize their EFT
payment before April 20 to avoid a break or lockout of TDP coverage.
