James Markgraf, the Fort McCoy VITA coordinator, said appointments
for installation VITA services are filling up quickly. The tax center
already is completely booked through almost the end of March. Services
offered cover preparation and e-filing of most individual federal and
state income-tax returns.
Since mid-February, most returns are eligible for e-filing. Several
federal forms and programs, such as the Residential Energy Credit and
Residential Rental Depreciation in the initial year, remain pending and
are ineligible for e-filing at present. Returns in this category still
are being prepared; however, they are being held until e-filing of these
forms becomes available.
The VITA center also has an ample supply of hard copy federal tax forms
and publications available for those still preparing their own taxes.
These forms can be picked up during normal business hours.
