This marks the 66th year that AER has extended a helping hand
to active-duty and mobilized Soldiers, retirees, their widows or
widowers, and dependents in time of emergency financial need. With the
increased mission of the Army to combat terrorism on a global scale,
the need has increased in recent years.
In fiscal year 2007, $129,000.29 was provided to 106 Soldiers
and family members served by Fort McCoy, compared to fiscal year 2001,
when Fort McCoy provided $25,198.34 to 26 Soldiers and family members.
AER provides Soldiers help with emergency financial needs for
food, rent or utilities, emergency transportation and vehicle repair,
funeral expenses, medical/dental expenses, nonreceipt of pay and
undergraduate-level education scholarships, based primarily on
financial need, to children and spouses of Soldiers.
