Other activities will include the Big Air Snowboard Competition, Frozen Turkey Bowling, a Snowman-Making Competition, a Snowball Slingshot Contest, a Ski/Snowboard Obstacle Course and Trick Competition, Slalom Races and a Cross-County GPS (Global Positioning System) Trail.
A pancake breakfast and other food will be available for purchase.

|Super Bowl telecast set for Sunday, Feb. 1 [ back to top ]|
The 2009 Super Bowl can be viewed Sunday, Feb. 1, at McCoy’s, building 1571, and the Community Activity Center, building 2000, at Fort McCoy.
The kickoff time is scheduled for about 5:20 p.m. Central Time at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The Community Activity Center will open at 11 a.m., while McCoy’s will open at 3 p.m.
McCoy’s will feature six large-screen televisions to view the game. Door-prize drawings will be held, and tickets will be issued before kickoff time, only. An armchair quarterback toss will be held at 4 p.m. Judging for the best-dressed fan (representing both teams) will be done during halftime, and each winner will receive a prize. The drawing for an LCD TV from Gridiron Challenge entries will be held at halftime.
Various beverage and food specials will be offered.
Large-screen televisions also will be available at the Community Activity Center for viewing the big game.

Parents and anyone in the installation community interested in pursuing postsecondary education can attend a Student Financial Aid workshop from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Feb. 6 at Army Community Service (ACS) 2111 South 8th Ave.
The ACS Financial Readiness Program is sponsoring the workshop, which will be presented by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Financial Aid Office.
The workshop will cover student financial aid issues for active-duty, Reserve and National Guard Soldiers, civilian employees in the Fort McCoy work force, and their family members.
Information will include how to apply for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and how to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls. Potential topics also may include information about the Montgomery GI Bill, the Wisconsin GI Bill, tips on applying for scholarships and college savings plans, such as 529 and Coverdell plans, and other financial resources available.

A Resume Writing Workshop will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Feb. 12 at Army Community Service (ACS) 2111 South 8th Ave.
The ACS Spouse Employment Program is sponsoring the workshop, which will help teach attendees to develop a professional and visually appealing resume.
The workshop is ideal for personnel who are just beginning to put together their resume or those who want to improve their resume.
A commercial professional in the field will present tips about how to choose the best resume format to most effectively list job-related abilities and accomplishments, properly list references and to create an effective cover letter.
The workshop is open to the Fort McCoy community, with priority given to military spouses who register by the deadline.

|Spring turkey applications available soon for McCoy [ back to top ]|
Applications for the 2009 Spring Turkey Season at Fort McCoy will be available by the end of January.
The Fort McCoy Permit Sales program currently is working on the transition to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) Automated License Issuance System (ALIS) and is finalizing the requirements for the application process.
Applicants will be required to provide a WDNR Customer Number when applying; applications without the Customer Number will be returned. Personnel without a current WDNR Customer Number must contact a WDNR Service Center or call the toll-free number at (888) 936-7463 (seven days a week from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.) to have one created.
Applications will be available on the Fort McCoy Web site http://www.mccoy.army.mil under Recreation Opportunities or at the Permit Sales Office, building 2168.

A new director has begun his duties with the Fort McCoy Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR).
Todd C. Seitz has come to Fort McCoy from U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Wiesbaden, Germany, where he worked from 2005-2008. He began working at Fort McCoy Jan. 5.
Prior to coming to Fort McCoy, Seitz also has worked at USAG Dugway, Utah from 2001-2005 and USAG Kwajalein, Marshall Islands from 1999-2001 during his 27-year-career in MWR.
