Assault training
Soldiers climb the stairs of a building during assault training at Fort McCoy. The Soldiers are Spc. Michael Bennett, Pfc. Robin Roberts, and Pfc. Anthony Juarez. The Soldiers, from the 649th Engineer Company, a California Army National Guard unit, were on a convoy patrol during a situational training exercise. Reacting to direct fire is one of dozens of scenarios the engineers go through during several different exercises. The 649th is preparing to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Chaplain (Capt.) Rick Barnes reads a verse from Scripture during Christmas Eve worship at Fort McCoy Chapel 1. Barnes is a chaplain with the 1249th Engineer Battalion, which is mobilizing at Fort McCoy in preparation to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He assisted Garrison Chaplains (Col.) Ken Lawson and (Lt. Col.) Thomas Shepard. The service was held for members of the 1249th, an Army National Guard unit from Oregon, who remained at Fort McCoy over the holidays.

Georgia Army National Guard Soldiers accept books for Soldiers through the Operation Warrior Library program. The Augusta, Ga.-based 877th Engineer Company is conducting mobilization training at Fort McCoy in preparation for deployment to support Operation Enduring Freedom and will transport the books to Soldiers stationed in Regional Command East, Afghanistan. Operation Warrior Library, which donates new, recently published, bestselling books, has a mission to provide Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan books for a few hours of escapism and to foster relationships between authors and U.S. troops through a common interest.
