Soldiers training or serving at Fort McCoy who need a
regulation Velcro nametape now have a local option at the Fort McCoy
Post Exchange, building 1538.
The Fort McCoy Dry Cleaning and Alteration Shop now offers this
embroidery service with a two-day turnaround. Same-day service is
available at an extra cost.
Sue Lebich, an
Americlean employee working under contract with the Army and Air Force
Exchange Service (AAFES), said the only previous option available to
provide guaranteed, authorized Velcro nametapes to Soldiers was
through Fort Knox, Ky.
Since Fort Knox makes nametapes for all the military services,
there was sometimes a wait time of two weeks or longer for orders to

or mobilization training have lost their nametapes or are required
have these nametapes in order to graduate or be able to deploy,
etc." She said that
Soldiers often could not afford to wait the time it took to obtain the
tapes from Fort Knox.
The nametape material used by the PX comes with a certificate
of authenticity so personnel are assured that it meets all Army
requirements, and is fully authorized by the Department of Defense and
the Army for its Army Combat Uniforms, Lebich said.
The Dry Cleaning/Alterations Shop also can handle nametape
needs for other personnel, such as the Air Force Airman Battle
Uniforms and State Patrol uniforms, she said.
Alterations offers a number of other services, including
embroidery of tags to label gear and special orders, she said.
