100 years of service in 2009

Fort McCoy will commemorate its 100th anniversary (1909-2009), with special activities and events throughout the year.

The 100th Anniversary Logo is incorporated into the flag (top left, page 1) of The Real McCoy newspaper, beginning with this issue.

This special logo can be used on various other garrison projects throughout the year (through Dec. 31), as well.

"By using this commemorative logo, we can market our anniversary message to various stakeholders and customers and do so using one standard design," said Linda Fournier, Fort McCoy PAO officer. "This logo can be used on products prepared throughout 2009, but cannot be altered in any manner."

Further restrictions include not using the logo as a letterhead symbol. All official Fort McCoy correspondence, however, will contain the special commemorative slogan "FORT McCOY — A CENTURY OF SERVICE TO AMERICA."

"Our year-long commemoration will be a chance for us all to reflect back upon the many events that have shaped our installation's history ..."

Linda Fournier,
Fort McCoy Public Affairs Officer

Requests for the anniversary logo can be made to the Fort McCoy PAO, building 100.

The logo will be available in several different sizes and formats in black and Fort McCoy green. The 100th anniversary logo does not have the registered trademark because the design was developed prior to Fort McCoy receiving trademark approval.

Members of the Fort Mc-Coy work force, training personnel, installation community, and military and civilian guests/visitors to the installation also will notice a special commemorative message that will appear on billboards located along State Highway 21 and special signage at the Main Gate.

Several special activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of Fort McCoy will be included in regularly scheduled events at the installation, including the Armed Forces Day Open House (May 16) and Army Birthday/Flag Day June 14 (June 12, installation celebration; and June 13, special public celebration).

More information about these events will be released at a later date.

"Fort McCoy’s 100 years of service to America (1909-2009) is certainly a significant milestone event for any military installation," Fournier said. "Our yearlong commemoration will be a chance for us all to reflect back upon the many events that have shaped our installation’s history, and it will be an opportunity to look forward to our next 100 years of service to our nation."

Questions can be directed to the PAO at (608) 388-2407.
